Minimize those glabellar lines with Jeuveau
For anyone considering beating the signs of aging without taking the drastic step of going under the knife, injectable neurotoxins are a good solution. They temporarily minimize the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles on the face, and bring the skin a firmer, youthful look.
The newest such neuromodulator on the market, which can effectively get rid of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), is Jeuveau. The innovative cosmetic solution to aging received FDA approval in February 2019 for the treatment of facial wrinkles, and has been making waves among dermatology circles since then.
Jeuveau creates a smoother, crease-free forehead by temporarily relaxing the muscles. The complete binding of the protein takes four to seven days after treatment, and the results will remain visible for three to five months before a repeat procedure is desired.
Clinical trials comparing Jeuveau and Botox showed that Jeuveau is not inferior to Botox. It is possible that Jeuveau is superior as some patients treated with Jeuveau had results last five months, where Botox was four months. Another difference is that Jeuveau is made with Hi-Pure technology so the proteins are more pure and have less additives, possibly causing the earlier “kick in” of Jeuveau.
However, the two neuromodulators are more similar than different as they both are 900 kDa proteins that effectively treat wrinkles of the face created by muscle movement. Time will tell which is superior, possibly those who prefer a softer look will prefer Botox where as those who want to have minimal movement will prefer Jeuveau.
