Skin Care Resolution
With the New Year almost here, you may have started thinking about resolutions. Even if you haven’t started thinking about resolutions adding a skin care resolution to your list is totally worth it. Why? Because you will look better at the end of 2018 than you did at the beginning. How is this possible you may wonder? A simple every day skin care routine!

- Put sunscreen on every morning. Most people do not think about all the UV that your skin absorbs on a day to day basis. Everything you do outside or by a window results in UV damage to your skin. For example, when you walk to get the mail in the morning before your coffee, or drive 5 minutes to the grocery store or work or walk by your bedroom window. So, even if you never leave your house your skin is still being damaged. Therefore, the most important thing you can do for your skin is to wear sunscreen every day. Every day no matter what rain, clouds or shine you must at least get sunscreen on in the morning. Yes, reapplying every 2 hours is recommended but, for start try to get it on every day. A few of my favorites include La Roche Posay Mineral Tinted, and for the acne prone skin Elta MD UV Clear. For my body I love Elta MD UV Lotion.
- Botox is a must. There is lots of hype both good and bad about Botox, however, the simple truth is that it works and is amazing. It doesn’t last forever but, when using it in a preventative maintenance way it is totally worth it. Just think of all the organic non-GMO food you buy just to be healthy and the wasted dollars on magic skin care products that are going to rejuvenate your skin. Save your money on the unproven products and put it towards something that is truly safe, effective and has the medical data to back it up. I guarantee no cream you buy online or from a department store or organic store has true medical evidence showing its effectiveness. If you’re worried about Botox being unnatural, put those fears to bed because Botox is technically “organic” as it is produced by a bacteria Clostridium botulinum and has a formula of C6760H10447N1743O2010S32. - Lasers are essential. We all have had those sunburns in the past that we wish we didn’t have and have probably gotten a little more sun than we should have. However, all is not lost. Just because you used to damage your skin doesn’t mean you still have to! Lasers are great to help reverse the damage that has been done and stimulate new collagen growth to keep us where we are. Weather you have red spots, brown spots, volume loss or wrinkles lasers are there to help rejuvenate your skin. Even if you treat yourself only once a year, you will be helping your skin to stay youthful. Lasers help you to take control of your aging and are all natural. Nothing is injected or removed and there is little to no downtime. Don’t you want to be one of those people that look good for their age!
Even if you decide that you don’t want to have a skin care resolution, at the very least have your skin evaluated by a board-certified dermatologist once in 2018 to make sure you don’t have any skin cancers lurking. Finding a dermatologist like me, Dr. Amanda Lloyd who will partner with you to get your skin back into shape is definitely a resolution worth having! You certainly won’t regret looking better in 2018!
