Before Going Back Outside, Here’s What You Should Know About Sunscreen!
At Skin & Vein Institute, we want all of our patients to enjoy their time in the sun safely as the weather begins to warm up. Of course, spending time outside safely necessitates using sunscreen regularly to protect your skin from dangerous UV radiation.
Do all sunscreens offer the same degree of protection?
- We suggest that you use at least SPF 30 sunscreen every time you leave the house.
- When going to the park, pool, or beach, you should wear an SPF of at least 30 or higher, specifically if you’ll be spending most of the day outside. Remember to reapply every 2 hours and after getting out of the water.
Is sunscreen effective in protecting against damaging UV rays?
- Most skincare professionals agree that sunscreen is an essential barrier for your skin.
What is the proper quantity of sunscreen to use on my skin?
- To get the correct amount of coverage, use approximately an ounce. Depending on your size and the amount of exposed skin, you may need to apply additional sunscreen.
- As a general guideline, apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before leaving home and continue to reapply it every two hours you spend outside.
