Start winter-proofing your skin right now!
The colder months are approaching and we are already feeling the nip in the air. Soon, it will be winter and the harsh, dry weather and chilly winds are not the best seasons for our skin. However, California has it better compared to most other parts of the country and if we pay a little more attention, we can keep our skin healthy and well-nourished. And since November is National Healthy Skin Month, some extra attention won’t go amiss. Some tips to help you get through the cold, dry winter months:
- Use a good moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and supple. If the skin gets too dry, it could become flaky and itchy, eventually leading to cracking and bleeding. Using a humidifier inside the house will also have a moisturizing effect on the skin.
- Prevent the skin from drying too much by bathing/showering in warm instead of hot water.
- Drink plenty of liquids.
- Wear lip balm.
- Don’t ditch the sunscreen as sunburn is very much a reality despite the lower temperatures.
