The Fraxel Advanced Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure

Fraxel Versus Traditional Laser Skin Resurfacing
Traditional laser skin resurfacing uses pulses of concentrated light to remove the upper layers of skin. While this treatment can be very effective at improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin tone, there is often a significant recovery period. Fraxel uses innovative fractional laser technology that eliminates the extended downtime of laser treatment. By breaking down the laser light into thousands of tiny beams penetrating the skin at a controlled depth, Fraxel treatment triggers regeneration for more rapid healing. In essence, fractional laser technology resurfaces skin from the inside out.The Fraxel Difference
Fraxel treatment targets higher layers of skin, making it safe for most skin colors and common treatment areas such as the face, neck, chest, hand, and arms. The non-ablative fractional laser reaches the deep layers of skin, creating a thermal reaction that stimulates collagen and contracts tissue for immediate skin tightening. The Fraxel Procedure
Fraxel treatments take about 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. Once the skin is cleaned, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin to make the procedure more comfortable. When the skin is sufficiently numbed, the Fraxel handpiece is guided over the treatment area several times.During treatment, you may feel a warm sensation. However, the Fraxel handpiece also delivers a cool area to maintain a comfortable temperate on the surface of the skin. Following treatment, the skin will appear pink and may feel like a mild sunburn for several hours.
The Fraxel Recovery
Following your treatment, the skin may appear to have a sandpaper texture as pigmentation spots turn brown and slough off. A high-quality makeup can be applied to cover up these areas during healing. Full recovery can take anywhere from 5 to 7 days.In the months following treatment, the skin will continue to improve, and results can be maintained long-term with good skin care. It is essential to wear a broad-spectrum, high SPF sunscreen daily.
