What is Radiesse used for?
Radiesse is calcium hydroxyapatite and is used to treat volume loss. The best place for Radiesse is the backs of the hands. As we get older, we lose volume all over our body. Most specifically for our hands, we lose the volume in the backs of our hands in between the knuckles which makes the tendons show and the veins show more prominently.
Who is a good candidate?
Anyone with volume loss in the backs of their hands is a good candidate for Radiesse.
How does Radiesse Work?
Radiesse is effective at treating volume loss because it stimulates the body to make its own collagen. It is a normal constituent of bone that is placed in the skin to stimulate the body to make more collagen, so that the volume loss is less prominent.
What visible changes are noticed with Radiesse?
When Radiesse is placed in the backs of the hands it provides the hands with a softer more full appearance, masking the bones and tendons that once stuck out and were prominent.
What are the benefits of Radiesse?
Radiesse improves the volume loss in the backs of the hands, making them look more soft and supple masking the effects of aging.
How should a patient prepare for the treatment?
There is no preparation necessary for a Radiesse treatment. On your treatment day, you will arrive at the Skin & Vein Institute, you will go to our numbing room and we will numb the backs of your hands with numbing cream for 30-45 minutes.
What happens on the treatment day?
After numbing you will be brought to our treatment room in which the Radiesse will be placed in the backs of the hands with cannula, the treatment is virtually painless and no needles are used.
What happens after the treatment?
After treatment, patients sometimes experience minor swelling. To minimize the swelling, you can prop your hands up at night while you sleep.
What are the benefits of Radiesse?
Radiesse is FDA approved for treating the volume loss in the backs of the hands. It is both safe and effective and is a virtually painless treatment.
